Trauma therapy for people who are tired of pretending it didn’t f*ck them up.
In-person in Naperville; virtual anywhere in Illinois.
Go from living in survival mode, overreacting to the smallest thing, and feeling like you’ll never be “normal” …
… to feeling safe in your own skin, responding instead of reacting, and not spiraling for hours after a simple text like “can we talk?”
I offer trauma therapy rooted in real connection and EMDR—an evidence-based method that helps you process trauma without having to rehash every painful memory. We go deep, we go real, and we go at your pace.
I have nearly 30 years in the field helping people move through trauma and finally feel like themselves again.

Limited spots available as I keep a small case load to ensure quality.
Don’t keep living in a loop you didn’t choose.
→ Trauma responses are running your life (and wrecking your relationships)
→ Sleep sucks, emotions are loud, and you're always on edge
→ You keep numbing out, shutting down, or blowing up
→ You’re doing everything “right” but still feel like something’s wrong
→ If nothing changes… nothing changes
Concepts we’ll explore in our 1:1 sessions …
-
→ EMDR can help your brain and body finally process what happened—without reliving it.
-
→ Avoiding pain doesn’t make it go away—it just makes it louder.
-
→ Triggers aren’t random—they’re clues your nervous system is still stuck in survival mode.
-
→ You’re allowed to grieve things that “could’ve been worse.”
-
→ EMDR lets you target the root, not just the symptoms.
-
→ You can stop living in replays of the past and start living your actual life.
-
→ Feeling “too much” usually means you’ve been holding it in too long.
-
→ “I’m fine” is often code for “I’m barely holding it together.”
-
→ You can’t out-think trauma—but you can rewire how it lives in your body.
-
→ Just because it’s familiar doesn’t mean it’s healthy.
-
→ Trust isn’t all-or-nothing—it’s something you can rebuild, starting with yourself.
-
→ You don’t have to unpack everything to start feeling better.
-
→ Healing isn’t about forgetting—it’s about remembering without falling apart.
-
→ Boundaries aren’t selfish—they’re how you reclaim your space and sanity.
-
→ The goal isn’t perfection—it’s presence, peace, and being able to breathe again.
-
→ Your story doesn’t have to be your identity
Meet the Therapist
Hi, I’m Aaron Polsky, LCSW. And I’m not your average nod-and-scribble therapist.
With nearly three decades in the field, I’ve sat with ICU patients and their families, first responders, trauma survivors, and people who’ve been through the kind of sh*t that makes most folks really uncomfortable. But none of that will rattle me. Whatever you bring in, I can safely hold it all.
Clients tell me they feel safe because I’m calm, real, and fully present. I’ll meet you where you are—with compassion, honesty, and the kind of grounded support that helps you finally breathe again.
This work matters to me because you matter to me.
